With recent planning efforts and investments by Syracuse University, the Marshall Street District north of campus has been identified as an important mixed-use place blending the Campus and City. Landwise Advisors was engaged to assist the University consider potential gaps in the retail market, and overall strategies to strengthen the district's vibrancy, aesthetics and operations. Sasaki was collaborator on this effort with a focus on physical analysis, testing urban design scenarios for future development alternatives, and creating urban design guidelines. Together, the team produced compelling ideas for the redevelopment of both specific sites and public spaces. The ideas were organized around level of intervention and cost (low, medium, and high) and accompanied by potential tenanting strategies. Landwise also presented methods to enhance overall district management and the existing Business Improvement District (BID).
